Subject: Advisory to Clients Regarding Summer Layoffs
As you know from our previous advisories, dated May 29, 2009 and June 3, 2009, the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) originally set a deadline of June 15, 2009, by which to notify them of a school agency's intent to do certificated summer layoffs. Just recently however, OAH made a change and acknowledged that schools could make arrangements for summer layoff hearings after that date. Therefore, if there are any districts or county offices that believe they need to explore the option of summer layoffs, you still have that option. We encourage any districts/county offices that are interested to contact us immediately so that we can review the necessary steps and help prepare your district/county office should a summer layoff become necessary.
