Given the ongoing economic challenges facing public schools, we anticipate that significant work will need to be done on certificated layoffs in the coming weeks prior to March 15 and on classified layoffs. We therefore want to encourage all clients to contact us as soon as possible if your agency is considering:
1. Certificated layoffs
2. Non reelection of Probationary employees
3. Non reelection of Temporary employees
4. Release and/or change in assignment or pay of administrative staff
5. Classified layoffs
6. Classified reductions in hours
If you are considering any of the above actions, we would like to meet with you so that we can plan the necessary resolutions and notices and prepare for any hearings (if applicable) as may be necessary. I will be available to work with you on these issues as well as Nancy Klein, Janna Lambert and Carl Corbin. Please contact your attorney of choice so that work can be initiated.
In preparation fr the work that may need to be done, we will need the following:
1. Certificated seniority list (including name, first date of paid service, all credentials held, amount of FTE, current assignment);
2. A list of all temporary certificated employees and interns currently employed by the District;
3. The collective bargaining agreement with certificated and/or classified layoffs and administrative release.
4. All board policies pertaining to certificated and/or classified layoffs and Administrative release.
Should you have any questions regarding the above, please do not hesitate to contact me.
